Our beautiful church is filled with many priceless and irreplaceable gifts left to us by our generous ancestors. It was through their overwhelming generosity that we have what we have today at Holy Family Parish. With time, it is natural to take things for granted, even our beautiful church. The recent fire at Notre Dame Cathedral brought back memories of our own church fire a few years ago when the work sacristy of St. Mary’s Church was gutted. But for the grace of God, we would have lost our church, along with our one-of-a-kind stained glass windows, our altars, our baptismal font, our statues, and everything else our ancestors entrusted to us. We were reminded of the tremendous treasure that is our church.
Like our own homes, this House of God needs upkeep, not just in a spiritual sense but in a practical one. We are less than a decade away from our church’s 150th birthday—so upkeep continues. Over the years, preservation work has included repairing mortar joints on the stone walls, repairing the roof, replacing flooring, and repairing stained glass windows, among others.
Although we are fewer in number now and have reduced financial resources, it is still incumbent on the current and future generations of Holy Family Parish to maintain our beautiful facilities for the Glory of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Your generosity will help maintain our Parish buildings, including our historic church, that our ancestors sacrificed to build for us and entrusted to our care.
