I always envisioned a parish festival as a wonderful way to bring the parish and community together. This concept was introduced at our newly-formed Special Events Commission in November 2023, with plans to move forward in January.
On June 1st, the committee’s vision came to life. Families came out in force to enjoy the beautiful weather, children’s activities, craft and food vendors, live music, Irish Step dancers, and fellowship. Whether you were young or old, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Sponsorship is necessary for an event like this to happen. I extend my sincerest thanks to the Twin Rivers Paper Company, Stewart’s Shop, White Rose Bakery, and George Lumber for their generous donations and support.
The entertainment was the icing on the cake. Many thanks go out to Jim Traglia and his Caribbean Steel Drum Sound, who graciously donated his time to perform (along with parishioner Mike Briones who joined him on the trumpet), Helen’s Dixielanders, Fritz’s Polka Band, and Celtic Craic Irish Step Dancers (parishioner Chloe Quigley accompanied by our young Holy Family Parish parishioners).
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the committee members and volunteers who went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure this event did not skip a beat. Without your help, this event would have never taken place. What was impressive to me was the eagerness of the children and young adults willing to help. Their jobs were not easy and it was so refreshing to see them involved.
It takes many hands to successfully plan and execute a festival like this. I was blessed to have yours.
