Rev. Brian Slezak, pastor of Holy Family, said, “Our church is special. It is and has been the center of family life for over 175 years: from the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, Anointing the Sick to weddings and funerals—all of those life experiences woven into the holy fabric of our faith, our lives, our church, and parish. St. Mary’s Academy supported and educated generations of Little Falls students, and our facilities have been used by countless community groups over the years. I have been moved by the endless stories of memories and affection parishioners, visitors, and community members have for our church.”
Slezak went on to explain the church’s rich history and majestic cathedral footmark also enrich the historical and beautiful landscape of the City of Little Falls as an integral part of Main Street.
“To embark on a capital campaign is an extraordinary effort, meant to address extraordinary Parish needs,” said Fr. Slezak. “Previous parishioners were called to pay for the construction of our beautiful church and other parish buildings — generations since then have been called to maintain them. As with all man-made structures, the passing of years causes deterioration and a need for maintenance. Our aging buildings are no different. We are the stewards of all that has been faithfully given and accomplished with current and past generations.”
The $300,000 will be used for restoration and protection for priceless church stained-glass windows, a new boiler for the Parish Office Building and Rectory, safeguarding of the church bells, parking drain and surface replacement, restoration of living quarters in the church rectory for priests and seminarians, church beautification, upgrades to the parishioner bathroom, and outdoor beautification. All funds raised for Rebuild & Renew are protected and will be earmarked for specific parish projects.
“Any gift would be greatly appreciated. By completing the designated projects, we will ensure quality and lasting value to our facilities for use by current and future generations. I look forward to what we can accomplish together,” Slezak concluded.
