Calling All Students in Grades 6th-12th.
Here’s an invite to students in grades 6-12 from our regional Roman Catholic parishes of St Joseph in Dolgeville, Holy Family in Little Falls, Annunciation in Ilion, Our Lady Queen of Apostles in Frankfort, and St. Joseph the Worker in Richfield Springs/West Winfield, and to their student friends who don’t happen to be Roman Catholic.
Join in the fun of putting on the performance of the first annual Christmas play: “The Story of the Nativity.” This year it will be hosted at the Holy Family Parish Center for two performances on Friday, December 15th at 6 p.m. and Sunday, December 17th at 2 p.m.
The students who take on the responsibility of the 18 speaking parts will be needed at nearly all the play practices. The students who take on the all important work of stage hands will be needed for the practices closer to the performance deadlines. We also need student singers and instrumentalists, students to run the lights, greet the patrons with programs, and fill in the non-speaking actor parts, etc.
The profits will come through patron donations and ticket sales. Students who gather patron donations will earn a raffle ticket for a very large prize drawing that only the student workers will be able to enter—your odds of winning is excellent. A VIP patron donation of $20 from a business or from a relative or friend will earn that patron an acknowledgement on a VIP list in the program. A regular patron donation of $10 for honorable mention as well. The tickets will be $5 for adults and $1 for student-aged children. Babies free.
We’ll discuss donations at our first meeting. Dates and times to note:
Saturday, October 14th - Noon Holy Family Parish Gym. Meet & Greet get together. We will read the play script and discuss how auditions will proceed. We will also discuss the best times for play practices to suit your busy schedules.
Saturday, October 21st - Noon at the Holy Family Parish Gym. TRY-OUTS: At this time, a schedule of play practices will be handed out to everyone. Regular play practices will begin some time late October or early November. We will be undertaking a joyous task of performing the “Greatest Story Ever Told.”
Come join in the hard work, the fun, the weariness and the blessing of proclaiming yet again to the world that Our God has come to His people. If your friend is a student between grades 6-12 and is not a Catholic but wants to join in, he or she can come too. If you want to participate but for some important reason cannot come to the meet and greet on October 14th, contact Mary Joan Korce mkorce64@gmail or call 315-823-2299.
